You may need to use the curve shot to get around an obstructing object ball.
If you've practiced elevating your cue stick and have your English skills down, then a curve should not be too much of a challenge. What will take time, however, is gauging the distance and knowing just how much sidespin to apply in order to get around the blocking ball and return to the aiming line so you can pocket the ball on the other side.
The degree of your elevated cue stick, the speed of your shot, and the amount of sidespin applied will affect the degree at which the cue ball curves.
